Hello!
I'm Kayla Jordan! I have a passion for stage management, theatre history, and dramaturgy, with a special interest in the development of new productions. I also have experience in props design and props management! Outside of academic theatre, my most recent credit is Stage Manager at the Carolina Academy of Performing Arts for their production of Disney's The Little Mermaid.
My Story (So Far)
I am about to graduate from Elon University with a double major in Theatrical Design and Technology as well as Drama and Theatre Studies (and a psychology minor). During my time in college, I have taken on a variety of roles within the performing arts department, including assistant stage manager, props manager, and dramaturg (to name a few!). I greatly enjoyed my early work with Renegade Productions, a student-run theatre organization, as well as mainstage productions with the Department of Performing Arts. During my junior and senior years, I began to simultaneously explore my fascination with props design and dramaturgy, leading me to develop a unique blend of skills that is derived from functioning as both an artist and a scholar.

However, creating theatre is not my only passion. Within the final half of my time at Elon University, I discovered a love of theatre history, as well as research within the theatrical sphere. In the summer of 2024, I participated in Elon University's Student Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) program. My research focused on using stage management reports as a form of theatre history and utilized the Susie Cordon Broadway Collection, an archival collection of stage management documents located in Belk Library on campus. The program culminated with a poster presentation session in which I presented my research process and findings.

In the fall of 2024, I received multiple awards for my dedication to the arts, including one for Exemplary Development in Theatrical Design and Technology as well as the Drama and Theatre Studies Outstanding Scholar Award.

For my most current endeavor, I am embarking as the stage manager for the Carolina Academy of Performing Arts' production of Disney's The Little Mermaid.
