In the winter of 2025, I worked on the play Paradise Lost at Elon University. I was specifically chosen by the director to serve as Lead Dramaturg, which meant I would be leading a team of first-time student dramaturgs. My background as a stage manager was useful in this regard, and I successfully led our team to complete a variety of projects in the short span of just three weeks. These projects included a script dictionary, an interactive lobby display, and an audience-facing website (found here) in addition to supporting rehearsals and analyzing the script.
As my first time in a creative leadership role, this production helped me to fine-tune many leadership skills including organization, communication, and collaboration. However, in addition to my own improvement, I facilitated the learning of four other students who were on my team. I taught them the basics of dramaturgy, delegated tasks and projects, and acted as a peer mentor during this process.
